The Michigan Judicial Institute (MJI) is pleased to announce a half-day seminar (9:30 a.m.-11:45 a.m.) for judges who will conduct felony sentencing proceedings involving juveniles facing life in prison without the possibility of parole. The seminar will review the law and procedure, following People v Skinner (Skinner II), in cases where the prosecution is requesting a life-without-parole sentence. Judges may attend the seminar in person at the Hall of Justice, or online through an internet connection to the judge’s computer.
The Michigan Judicial Institute (MJI) is pleased to offer a court support staff certification training for court and county clerk staff. This is a voluntary certification process.
