Duration: 2 Hours

Michigan Supreme Court Administrative Order 1985-5 requires a probation officer/caseworker complete the Michigan Judicial Institute (MJI) certification training for juvenile court staff within two years of employment.  COVID-19 restrictions preclude MJI from holding an in-person Basic Interviewing, Counseling, and Communication Techniques seminar.  However, MJI has worked with the Michigan Association for Family Court Administration to develop an online program.

MJI is holding a series of webinars utilizing virtual technology (Zoom).  The webinars will consist of short presentations followed by facilitated small group work.

The sessions will occur each Wednesday for a period of five weeks beginning September 9, 2020, from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.  Participants must attend and participate in every session.

The agenda for the webinar is as follows:

September 9, 2020 – Dealing with Resistance

September 16, 2020 – Establishing the Relationship

September 23, 2020 – Vicarious Trauma

September 30, 2020 – Diversity and Inclusion
